Myth: Babywise Automatically Diminishes Milk Supply

Today we have Kimberly at Team Cartwright debunking the myth that the Babywise method decreases milk supply. She, like me, is nursing twins!

I think the perception with scheduled feedings is that the goal is to space them as far apart as possible and get your baby to go long periods without eating. This is NOT true. On the contrary, Babywise suggest WAKING a baby to eat throughout the day (and in the beginning, at night) to make sure they are eating enough and adequately establishing your supply.

Another way to look at it is that scheduling feedings PRIORITIZES feedings, or how Kimberly puts it:

What does it mean when you schedule something? To me it means you are prioritizing it.  You are making sure to carve out time in your day because you see that activity as being important.  I schedule my nursing sessions because I think they are of utmost importance.  I make sure to find the proper time in every day to meet the needs of my babies, making sure that I keep up a good supply to do so.

Kimberly and thousands of other breastfeeding, Babywise following mamas can attest: Babywise does NOT diminish milk supply.

Check out what Kimberly has to say about it!

And come back later today and tomorrow for more Babywise myth debunking!
